About CAWS

Cullman area citizens committed to the development of a strong, qualified workforce to meet the current and future employment needs of our community.

CAWS is, above all, an industry-driven organization. It began as a collaborative effort between seven participants who were chosen as a delegation to the Strategic Partnerships for a Competitive Workforce Workshop in Minneapolis, Minn., in the fall of 2006. The workshop, a joint project between the U.S. Departments of Labor and Education, dealt with the problems facing the industrial sector due to decreased interest in industrial fields and the onset of retirement within the Baby Boomer generation. The seven delegates returned to Cullman County with the desire to expand upon the ideas presented at the workshop and put them to use for the betterment of our community.
